Michael joined Kohl’s in 2007 as Vice President of Merchandise Presentation for the home division. Michael is a 30-year veteran in visual merchandising and has held multiple creative roles in department and specialty store sectors, owned a retail home furnishings business and spent five years in design sales for a visual merchandising and fixture manufacturer based in New York. Michael is a native of California.

Divisional Vice President-Diversity and Emerging Talent, JCPenney
Kelley Johnson is the divisional vice president of diversity and emerging talent for JCPenney, one of America’s leading retailers operating over 1,100 department stores throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. In this role, Kelley leads JCPenney’s campus recruiting function focusing heavily on engaging emerging leaders to build a robust talent pipeline for future company growth. In addition, she’s responsible for leading JCPenney’s diversity and inclusion strategy, focused on talent acquisition, community partnerships, employee engagement and enabling a culture of inclusion that fosters innovation and exceptional business performance. JCPenney is recognized by Diversity Inc magazine as a Top 50 Company for Diversity and holds a 95% ranking on the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index.
Kelley is a talent strategist with more nearly 20 years of experience in human resources and corporate communications. Prior to joining JCPenney in 2010, she was responsible for diversity and corporate communications for Accor Hospitality, parent company of luxury and economy hotel brands such as Sofitel Hotels and Motel 6. She has been recognized with a Clarion award for her work in public relations, and was a recipient of the Bernache award, reserved for only 50 out of 140,000 global Accor associates each year.
A Dallas native, Kelley is passionate about authenticity and inspiring others to achieve their dreams. She is a member of the national board of directors for INROADS and an advisory board member for the Latino Leadership Initiative at Southern Methodist University. Kelley holds a Bachelor’s degree from Texas Woman’s University.
